The DISMARC wordlists and vocabularies aim to support the users in performing searching across a variety of archives and different catalogue data. Any new metadata that is harvested by DISMARC is checked an if appropriate enriched with DISMARC vocabulary terms.
The View Vocabularies function (which is only accessible for registered users) provides an overview of all the vocabularies available.
DISMARC provides controlled (structured) vocabulares and plain word lists.
The controlled vocabularies also appear in the Browse function BUT for browsing only those terms are displayed that do carry data!
The following vocabularies are integrated in DISMARC:
- Basic Geographic Names
- Geographic Names (historical)
- Languages
- Nationalities/Ethnical Groupings (IBSS and ET)
- Non-Ethnical Groupings
- Eras
- Genres
- Formats
