DISMARC provides search options for single objects and whole collections.

The Metadata fields listed below are those to describe a collection of objects. (Eg. The "Jazz Collection" of Archive XX)

The overall concept of the DISMARC Collection Application Profile is based on the Dublin Core Collections Application Profile. Field names highlighted in red colour are mandatory fields. For institutions that do not have this information available in their proprietary databases DISMARC offers a collection entry tool for feeding this data once into the DISMARC system.

Features:

  1. One of: The entry must be chosen out of a closed word list.
  2. Lookup List: When the field is selected for the search the user may open a so-called lookup list that contains all the entries that exist for this field in the database in alphabetical order. The user may scan through these entries and select them for the search out of the lookup list.
  3. Vocabulary: DISMARC offers for this field a controlled vocabulary. (Optional)
  4. TextLine: The collection owner may insert text here. These fields can not be viewed by any other user.

General Note:

  • All Metadata fields might be duplicated.
  • Controlled Vocabularies support the Browse and the Advanced Search functionality.
  • IPR-License means standard text that each archive uses when answering license requests by different users. This input is used by the DISMARC IPR tool > the DISMARC IPR Basket functionality.
